I chose the Subtle Mind exercise and the Integral Assessment
as my favorite practices as they seemed to speak volumes to me and allowed me a
chance to reflect on where I was and see a more relaxed and focused person when
completed. Taking a personal inventory of where you are daily can assist you in
getting the most out of each day. For me I would schedule the subtle mind
practice in the mornings before the day begins which would allow me the
opportunity to start the each day with a calm-abiding spirit. And then at the
end of the day after the house is quiet taking a moment to reflect on the happenings
of the day by taking the integral assessment to evaluate what worked and
what needed to change.

Hi Pam, you know those are great ideas of when to incorporate the two practices into your daily schedule. I may actually borrow this idea and incorporate it to my morning routine. I tend to reflect on my day once I am home and I am able to talk with my husband about our days. SOmetimes I wish I could go back and fix something I may have handle poorly but taking an assessment may help me to do better the next time I come across similar situations. Great ideas! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeletePam you have a great plan.
ReplyDeleteThe busy, rush-rush world we live is quite overwhelming at times and the need for retreat is plausible. Most people are too busy even to relax, even for a minute. Not even realizing what they are doing to themselves and loved ones in the crazy process. The only inner thought is getting the job done and completed as fast as possible to get the sense of accomplishing or the rewards but never enjoying the moments or relishing the experience and knowledge obtained in the effort. Our minds are busy highways of thoughts that range from repulsive to ecstasy. Are they rational? Not always, so we need to take time, relax and listen to our inner logic and wisdom to find real healing and comfort within. True happiness is available to us all by realizing, slowing-down, counting our blessings, and understanding that we are human and have needs other than just material ones. Stress and worry will be the detriment if left unchecked. Many great accomplishments have been obtained through accessing the genius within us all. Time has to be devoted to going within to retrieve that genius.
Hi Pam,
ReplyDeleteI should probably consider the assessment part because daily assessment is good for me so that I can go back and take a look at what happened.
As far as in the morning I would like to know how to incorporate the different practices and put them with my morning prayer and devotion to God. I think that would help me to develop in the area consistency, and organization. Even after this class ends I will continue to put the practices to work.
Joy Hi I think the assessment should be done at the end of the day as then you can evaluate the day. In the morning I would do prayer time / devotion with some quiet soaking. Getting up earlier then anyone else is how I do it. I like an hour of quiet time before the day starts. That way I can then get a feel of how the day will play out. Hope this helps. Pam12
DeleteStarting the day with a calm-abiding spirit sounds like a great plan. So many mornings I awake just as restless as I did when I laid my head to rest. It amazing how without even knowing it we awake with our minds already in motion planning our hold day out in our heads. I need to start taking a minute in the morning to calm my mind and start the day fresh. Great tips Pam!
